Only 17 years old, Russian producer Nexeri is promising to become a big name on the house scene. He started producing not even a year ago and already his song 'Ocean' surpassed half a million Spotify play, with the new 'Obsession' over 50,000 in just three weeks. Time to have a chat!
What kind of music did you listen to growing up? How has that influenced you?
I cannot say that I like a certain genre, but I mostly enjoy House and Indie Rock. Fresh House music helps me to keep up with the trend of music and hits of Indie Rock help me to not forget the importance of real instruments. That's also why I included a real violin in Obsession. At the moment, my favourite artists are Avicii, Kygo, Imad, ZHU, Vicetone, SA, Revelries, Üm. and Lost Frequencies.
What made you decide to create music and become an artist?
From my childhood, I dreamed of being a musician, playing in a band. But realizing that it's almost impossible to create a good band in my town, I started writing tracks myself.
Has your music changed over time into what is now Obsession?
Yes, earlier I made tracks in the style of electronic rock, and now in the genres of Dance and Chill House. We made 'Obsession' in a total of six months. Originally there was a completely different melody and idea of the track, but thanks to Jex, the track received some new colours and became noticeably better. At the end, this track was created for dancing!
What do you do when you’re not in the studio making music?
I just live as an ordinary student: I go out with friends, study, practice various sports and so on. I also go to concerts of various cover bands, because I love live music.
What are your plans for the rest of the year?
I would love to collaborate with Lucas Estrada, Henri Purnell, Üm., Osrin or Imad and some of these are already happening. I am always open for collaborations with other artists, too! I'm going to release about three more tracks this year and one of them maybe will be released on Soave Records. These will be some of my best tracks!
